News

Armenia ranked 63rd in the 2024 Global Innovation Index (GII). The corresponding report, which assesses the innovation performance of 133 countries, was published by the United Nations World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Compared with last year's ranking, Armenia climbed nine places, positioning itself ahead of Azerbaijan (95th) in the new index, while remaining behind Iran (59th), Georgia (57th), Russia (51st), and Türkiye (37th).

As in the previous year, Switzerland achieved the highest ranking in the 2024 edition. Sweden, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Singapore completed the top five. Among the lowest-ranked countries were Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Mali, and Niger, while Angola was ranked at the bottom of the index.

The Global Innovation Index has been produced since 2007 by a consortium comprising Cornell University (United States), INSEAD Business School (France), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The GII 2023, now in its 16th edition, is a key source of information for assessing an economy's innovation performance. Published annually, it serves as a valuable tool for policymakers, business leaders, and other stakeholders to compare innovation progress over time.
