Current Investment Climate in Armenia

Armenia is considered one of the countries with the most open investment regimes among the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Economic and infrastructure reforms, macroeconomic stabilization, and sustained growth have contributed to the development and implementation of Armenia’s foreign investment policy.

The fundamental principles of this policy can be summarized as follows:

  • A liberal approach to foreign investment and an open-door policy;
  • Protection of investors’ rights;
  • Equal treatment of foreign and domestic investors.

The Law on Foreign Investments grants international investors a range of rights, guarantees, and privileges, including:

  • Unrestricted access to all sectors and regions of the country;
  • Legislative stability: protection against changes in investment legislation for a period of five years;
  • The right to exploit natural resources through concession agreements.

Free Economic Zones

Free economic zones in Armenia combine tax incentives and infrastructure-related measures to attract foreign direct investment, boost exports, create jobs, and promote sustainable economic development. They offer entrepreneurs a unique opportunity to establish operations in strategic sectors while benefiting from a reduced tax burden, including a 0% corporate profit tax rate.

Alliance FEZ

Steps to Become a FEZ Resident

  1. Submit an application to the Intergovernmental Committee (including a business plan);
  2. Obtain government approval (decision issued within 21 days);
  3. Sign an agreement with the FEZ operator.
