For the First Time in Armenia: Cashless Transactions Surpass Cash Payments

Last month, for the first time in Armenia, the volume of cashless transactions exceeded that of cash transactions, marking a significant milestone. During the Government session of 8 August, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan highlighted this development based on data presented by the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, Narek Mkrtchyan.
According to the data, approximately 540,000 pensioners and social benefit recipients now use bank cards to receive their payments, and 44% of them also participate in the cashback (post-payment) program.
