Visit to the largest confectionery in the region
Wellar Group
The CCIFA team recently had the pleasure of organizing an exclusive visit to a major industrial project in Armenia: the future largest chocolate and confectionery factory in the region, currently under construction for the company Wellar Group.
This ambitious project represents a total investment of €145 million, of which €120 million has already been invested, with an additional €25 million planned in the near future. The factory, located on a site of approximately 25 hectares, will be equipped with state-of-the-art technologies mainly sourced from German and Danish companies.
Once fully operational, in about three years, the factory is expected to reach a production capacity of 200 tons per day, making it one of the main confectionery production hubs in the region. The site will function as a true industrial village where around 4,000 employees will work daily. A hotel will even be built to accommodate truck drivers responsible for transporting goods.
The future production will include a wide range of products: chocolates, caramels, protein and fruit bars, chocolate-coated biscuits and wafers, as well as Armenian dried fruits coated in chocolate, showcasing local know-how and Armenian raw materials.
This project is led by Wellar Group, a company belonging to the Swedish international group GNG, and also benefits from support schemes from the Armenian government, including customs duty exemptions and the “Infrastructure for Investment” program.
This visit allowed CCIFA to discover a strategic industrial project for Armenia’s economic development, illustrating the country’s attractiveness for international investment and the dynamism of the agri-food sector.
