International Volunteer in Administration (VIA) Opportunity at the French Embassy in Armenia

The French Embassy in Armenia is recruiting an International Volunteer in Administration (VIA) for a 12-month assignment, beginning on 1 November 2024. This position offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the development of Franco-Armenian cooperation across a wide range of fields.

Responsibilities

Under the authority of the Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs and in close collaboration with the Political Chancellery, the VIA will be responsible for the following:

  • Decentralized Cooperation: Serve as the focal point for projects led by French local authorities in Armenia, assess cooperation opportunities, support the development and monitoring of projects, and organize missions involving French local authorities.
  • Civil Society: Work with local NGOs in priority areas such as human rights, combating discrimination, and sustainable development. The VIA will be responsible for developing and monitoring projects funded by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and international partners.
  • Specific Thematic Areas: Act as the focal point for gender equality, LGBT+ rights, volunteering, and sport, while contributing to the development of strategies and initiatives in these areas.
  • Cross-cutting Responsibilities: Update project monitoring documents, monitor available funding opportunities, draft diplomatic reports and briefing notes, organize events related to the position, and coordinate travel for project monitoring activities.

Conditions

  • Compensation: €2,673 per month (non-contractual allowance, subject to change).
  • Working Hours: In accordance with the Embassy’s internal regulations, with occasional availability required during evenings and weekends for special events and official delegation visits.
  • Travel: Frequent missions throughout Armenia, excluding designated high-security ("red") zones.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be under 28 years of age.

Working Team

The VIA will work directly with the Counsellor for Cooperation and Cultural Affairs, in close collaboration with a dedicated team consisting of a Deputy, four other International Volunteers, a Project Officer, and an Administrative Assistant.
