French Doctors on a Mission in Armenia

News

As part of an economic, humanitarian, and medical cooperation mission, organized in collaboration with Santé Arménie and the French-Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (#CCIFA), a group of doctors from France spent five days in Armenia, providing training and exchanging expertise with their Armenian counterparts in the cities of Goris and Yerevan. The objective of this initiative is to strengthen local medical capacities, particularly in the field of preventive healthcare.

The mission was marked by a warm and constructive meeting with His Excellency Mr. Olivier Decottignies, Ambassador of France to Armenia. During this exchange, the Ambassador expressed his pleasure and honor in welcoming these French doctors. He emphasized the importance of such human and professional partnerships, which embody the deep ties between France and Armenia.

In their testimonies, these experts highlighted the importance of prevention from birth, understanding the human body, and establishing a genuine relationship between healthcare professionals, patients, and parents. “Parents must be included and supported, especially mothers, who often experience depression,” explained one of the doctors.

This sharing of expertise was experienced as a mutually enriching exchange. “We accepted the situation as it is, without judgment, and we built an immense human connection. It is a profoundly educational experience for both sides,” added another participant. Despite the challenges, the professionals remain optimistic: “We do what is possible when things seem impossible.”

This type of mission embodies a caring and lasting form of cooperation, where expertise meets attentive listening, and where action is rooted in empathy.

Special thanks to Dr. Roger Vasseur (specialist in rehabilitation and functional re-education for babies and young children), as well as physiotherapists Blandine Roubaud, Stéphanie Marion, and Gayané Mnatzakanian.
