Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia Participates in the “Syunik–Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Armenia Friendship Day” in France

On November 28, 2024, Arman Khojoyan, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, participated in the event entitled “Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Armenia–Syunik Friendship Day”, held in Lyon, France. The event brought together political leaders, economic experts, and representatives from both regions to discuss bilateral cooperation and opportunities for economic development between Armenia and France, with a particular focus on the Syunik Province and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region.

Several key topics were addressed, including the expansion of economic cooperation and the establishment of a network of sister-city partnerships between seven municipalities in Syunik and their counterparts in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region. The event helped strengthen ties between the two territories within the framework of the “One City, One Cooperation” initiative, which aims to foster long-term partnerships between local authorities.

During his visit, Arman Khojoyan spoke at the session dedicated to the economic dimension of the partnership, presenting Armenia’s economic environment and development priorities. He highlighted the economic challenges facing Armenia, particularly in the Syunik Province, and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region in addressing these challenges. He also stressed the partnership’s potential to encourage investment and promote innovation in both regions.

At the conclusion of the event, the seven municipalities of the Syunik Province signed cooperation memorandums with their sister cities in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, marking a significant milestone in the development of bilateral relations. Arman Khojoyan also met with Fabrice Pannekoucke, President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, and Laurent Wauquiez, regional representative, to discuss prospects for future cooperation and explore areas of common interest.
