Armenia to Host the UN Tourism Global Conference on Wine Tourism

From September 11 to 13, Armenia will become the center of international attention as it hosts the prestigious Global Conference on Wine Tourism, organized by UN Tourism. This major event will bring together more than 100 participants from nearly 40 countries.

Participants will have the opportunity to discover the rich history of Armenian wine as well as the many tourism opportunities offered by a region renowned for its winemaking heritage. The conference is expected to highlight Armenia’s unique strengths in the field of wine tourism and further strengthen its position on the international stage.

“In addition to the conference’s opening ceremony, a comprehensive educational program will be offered. We will explore in detail the history of Armenian wine and the opportunities presented by wine tourism. We have made every effort to include as many local winemakers as possible, giving them the opportunity to showcase their winemaking heritage and share their experience. Participants will also have the unique opportunity to visit the Areni-1 Cave, the world’s oldest known winery,” said Sona Hovhannisyan, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia.

International representatives, as well as delegations from government institutions, destination management organizations, media outlets, tourism experts, and wine specialists, will arrive in Armenia for the event. According to Sona Hovhannisyan, participation requests have been received from numerous countries, including Portugal, Argentina, Japan, India, and several African and European countries.
