Tribute Ceremony Honoring Armand Melkonian
On September 26, the CCIFA will take part in a tribute ceremony honoring Mr. Armand Melkonian, a leading figure in both French and international sommellerie.
Organized by Trinity Canyon Vineyards, a commemorative stone will be unveiled in his memory at the Vineyard of the Masters in Armenia, a site dedicated to honoring the pioneers of Armenian viticulture and winemaking.
Born to parents of Armenian origin, Armand Melkonian passed away in Nice on April 2, 2026. He enjoyed an outstanding career, winning the title of Best Sommelier of France in 1967 and, in 1968, becoming the winner of the very first International Sommelier Competition, a milestone in the history of the profession. Despite his international career, Armand Melkonian always maintained a strong connection with his Armenian roots.
